Hi Beloved, I pray that this post finds you walking closely with our Lord and enjoying the fellowship of His Holy Spirit daily.
Willing to change or resistant to change – which kind of person are you?

Beloved, as children of God, we know that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Word is also forever. So, we can never change Christ or His Word. They remain the same forever and ever. However, when it comes to the practical everyday aspect of our lives, we must accept the reality that change is part and parcel of our earthly life. What do I mean? Let me illustrate from the current situation that we are all facing.
Now this Coronavirus pandemic is coming to an end. After it is over, are you ready for the world that is out there? What do I mean? If you are a shop owner, are you willing to accept the change that now people might use online mediums to make their purchases rather than visiting a physical shop? Are you still going to invest money on more physical locations or are you going to invest more on an online business? As a business owner are you willing to accept the reality that your business model will have to change to be successful in a new business environment? You might even have to change the way you do business completely. Change the products and services you offer. Are you willing to do business in a completely new way?
As a customer are you willing to accept the change that a lot of businesses might encourage online purchasing and reduce the number of shop locations they have? As an employee in a company are you willing accept the change that your company might reduce staff and you will have more responsibilities and work coming your way? Are you willing to face reality that you might be expected to work from home being connected online to your office? Are you open to the fact that you might be out of a job and you might have to start afresh in a new place, a new career, maybe even a new profession? Are you open to the fact that you might not be able to go at the same time, on the same day, in the same location for worship? All your routines for life, work and worship may have to change.
As a servant of God are you willing to accept the change that people may no longer come in numbers into your large church building? Are willing to accept the fact that you might not be able to have large meetings in big auditoriums? Are you willing to gather people in smaller groups in small homes and meet in multiple locations, preaching the same sermon multiple times a day? Are you willing to use online channels to reach your sheep? Are you willing to accept the fact that you may no longer have the opportunity to gather people to one location and pass around an offering bag to collect funds for you and your ministry? Are you willing to fully trust in God, not knowing where your next offering would come? Are you willing to change from an organized business enterprise type church structure with many staff to do your work to an informal, family and fellowship based, book of Acts type church model where you, yourself do everything by yourself?
Am I sounding like a prophet of doom to you beloved? Well I am just trying to sound the bell of warning of a potential reality in a post-Corona world and ask you the question are you willing to CHANGE and MOVE FORWARD or RESIST and PERISH?
The truth is this…
Those who are willing to change and adapt to the new reality will move forward and be successful. Those who resist change and try to continue in their old ways saying ‘this is the way we always did it and that is the way we will always continue to do it’- will most certainly perish. I have first-hand experience with people who hate change. They hate change. Resist change. Do not change. Do not let others change. They remain stuck in the same place for decades and keep others also stuck in that same place. If you change even the slightest thing, they will create enough of problems to stop any change from happening. Trust me I know.
Why do people resist change? Simple answer. IT IS FEAR. Fear controls their thought processes. Fear keeps them in a comfort zone. Even if that comfort zone keeps them stuck in one place, without progress, without success, without fulfilling any vision – they still prefer to remain there since they fear if they change, they will lose everything. What they do not realize however is that if they do not change, they will anyways lose everything.
Walk by faith, not by sight…
Beloved, to me personally, a willingness to accept change and move forward is walking by faith. We trust God to make us a success. We trust God to take us forward. We trust God to take us to new highs. We trust God to take us into a new season. Even if we do not see fully what the future holds, we trust God and we take that step of faith. We look at change as opportunities to move forward, to grow, to develop, to bring greater glory to the Name of the Lord.
If you allow your fears to make you resistant to change, you will be stuck in one place for the rest of your life. However, if by faith you accept change, look at it as an opportunity and move forward; you will prosper. In the days ahead you will see a lot of change. DO NOT BE AFRAID. HAVE FAITH IN GOD. The psalmist says in Psalm 31:15 ‘my times are in Your hands.’ Psalm 139:16 says, ‘all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.’ Proverbs 20:24 ‘Man’s steps are ordered and ordained by the Lord.’ If you trust in the Lord, He will make you a success.
Even in the way we do ministry there will be change. Some I know will resist the change but with those who are willing to accept change we hope to move forward to greater heights and do greater things for the Lord who has given us a mission and a vision for Sri Lanka.
May Grace grant you strength to face change courageously.
